NCSL Div. 1 (Spring 2010)

History: The Spartans advanced to NCSL Division 1 in Spring, 2010 after moving up steadily each season from Division 6. The team moved to NCSL Div. 2 for Fall 2010. Then known as the DC Stoddert Rockets, the team blasted to the top of NCSL Div. 3 in spring 2009 with a two-way tie for the championship with 29 goals and just one loss. Only three other teams in the age bracket, including the Division 1 champions, equaled or topped the number of goals scored that season. Under the guidance of coach Mohan Telfer, DC Stoddert Soccer’s 2008 Travel Coach of the Year and Liberty Mutual 2009 Responsible Coach Award winner, the team moved up for a fifth straight season to play in NCSL Div. 2 in fall 2009. The Rockets were the Fall 2008 NCSL Div. 4 champIons, scoring 29 goals with just 5 against. That season, the team outscored opponents 48 goals to 11 in seven tournament and nine NCSL games.
