Midlothian, VA (May 24, 2009) -
Although there were sunny skies over Richmond, Va., during Memorial Day weekend, a powerful Storm was in the area. The DC Stoddert Red Storm, coached by Mvuselelo Ngcoya, celebrated an Anthem Colonial Cup U-12 championship after a thrilling 3-2 overtime win over the previously unbeaten Beach FC Black (VA) in the title game. Overall, the Red Storm posted a perfect 4 win/0 loss record, and outscored opponents 18-4. At the awards ceremony, an opposing coach, the championship game referee and a tournament organizer recognized the Red Storm players for their outstanding play and sportsmanship. The Colonial Cup title is the team’s first tournament championship since being formed in 2005, and reflects the determination and spirit the boys have shown since they began training for the current season in January.
