Neither Rain Nor... U9-U13 Tryouts Successful Despite Elements
Strong talent pool underscores club's player-development focus, notes Len Oliver

Along with washing out games, this spring’s deluges scrambled travel-team tryout schedules for U9-U13 players. Still, rain delays did nothing to dampen turnout for the Fall 2009 selection process. A strong talent pool for teams of various skill levels made this recruiting season one of DC Stoddert Soccer’s most successful--and underscored the club’s growing reputation for excellence in developing young players. Read Coaching Director Len Oliver’s notes from the field!

Travel Team Tryouts for U13 & Older

Boys’ and Girls’ U13 and older teams arrange their own tryouts. Though many teams held tryouts earlier in June, coaches often are interested in seeing prospective players and allow them to visit regular practices in lieu of, or in addition to, formal tryouts. Please contact team managers and coaches for specific information regarding teams for fall 2009 by identifying the appropriate age group and level team on our "GIRLS’ TEAMS AND CONTACTS" or "BOYS’ TEAMS AND CONTACTS"

Or, check out these Tryout notices for teams seeking Fall ’09 players .Some older teams began conducting formal tryouts in late May and early June, but will continue to screen players throughout the summer. Please contact the managers and coaches as soon as possible. Or, click HERE or  "Continue..." below for scheduled tryouts by age bracket.

Problems? Please E-mail Travel Director Kate Samsot and she will get your some assistance.

Candlelit Session on Player Burnout
Submitted by Kate Samsot, Director of Travel Soccer

Was it ironic that a January 29th session on “burnout,” ended in candlelight because of a power outage in Georgetown?  Perhaps.  Nationally known sports psychologist, Dr. Dan Freigang was discussing the merits of effective planning and player adaptation, when the lights at Ledo’s Pizza flickered for a moment and then died, altogether.  Dr. Dan didn’t miss a beat, saying that the new lighting arrangement provided a challenge for the coaches to employ their own adaptation skills.
