Champions at prestigious Disney Showcase Tournament in Orlando, Fla. Feb 2008

Here’s a summary of the team’s results.

First Round:
Sat. am Game vs Canada Darlington: 2-0, a small but very quick, technical, organized and persistent team (Julia and Meg scored, Camryn had an assist)
Sat. pm Game vs FL Seminole: 2-0, a technically, tactically poor team with a very sound goalkeeper, a team which we completely dominated, would have been a much higher score if we were fresh! (Emily and Olivia scored both off crosses, Emily’s was 1 touch on the ground and Olivia’s was a header!, both goals were off Meg’s two assists)
Sun. Game vs FL Krush: 5-3, very physical team, with good speed, technical levels, and competitiveness, kept coming at us! (Meg had two 35yd goals off free kicks, Jarena had two goals off penetration dribbles off passes from Olivia, Olivia had another goal off a corner, this time off Rubii’s cross).
Semi-Final vs NC: Tied 0-0 after play and over time, 4-3 in 11 PK’s!!!, a very physical, aggressive and persistent team with a very good, big goalkeeper, over 20 fouls called against them!
Final vs FL Krush: 2-1 ( We won our bracket and had the most wins in the entire age group, the only team with 9 points after first round play, and the only team with 15 points at the end! Krush made it to the final after advancing as a wild card team). Our team displayed exceptional character, intensity, skill and insight despite overwhelming fatigue. Rubii scored both goals in the flow of play off 35 yds strikes, one high and one driven low.
