SPRING 2010 Tryout News: GU17 DCST Heat is looking for dedicated and impact players to play in WAGS Division 2 and focus on college showcase tournaments for the spring and summer. The Heat also has received a grant to travel to Morocco July 9 - 20 for a soccer and cultural experience of a lifetime. Currently, the team is practicing indoors once a week and on weekends at the George Washington University’s turf field (Mt. Vernon campus). Interested players should contact coach Andre Russo or co-coach Jorge Hunt.
Champions in Turqouise Division at MSSL Winter College Showcase, Nov. 22, 2009.

The GU17 Heat (WAGS Div 2) beat three tough competitors, including the #3 teams from Delaware and Rhode Island, to win the Turquoise bracket of the competivie MSSL Winter College Showcase in Ft. Dix, N.J., November 22. The tournament draws over 200 coaches, many from NCAA Division III programs, to scout talent and generated recruitment offers for DC Stoddert Soccer players in the past. The Heat scored 6 goals for and zero against, making MSSL the second tourney in a row where the team has not dropped any points or been scored on. "We had a great weekend," said coach Andre Russo. The Heat has been one of Stoddert Soccer’s strongest travel teams, making WAGS Division 2 several seasons ago under then-coach Kate Samsot, DC Stoddert’s travel director and Olympic Development Program coach.
Williamsburg (Va.) Labor Day Cup 2009 Champions!!

Coaches Andre Russo (top left) and Jorge Hunt led the GU17 Heat to a decisive victory in the Labor Day weekend Williamburg Cup, outscoring opponents by a total of 14-0. Besides winning the championship, the Heat were thrilled to welcome six new players to their great group, and visit Busch Gardens for some end-of-summer fun.

History: The Heat has played high-level, competitive soccer for over five years. First coached by DC Stoddert Travel Director and Olympic Development Program coach Kate Samsot, a University of North Carolina player, the Heat have had three strong seasons and advanced to WAGS D2 under Coach Andre Russo, a standout varsity player at George Washington University, semi pro player, and experienced high-level girls’ travel and Super Y coach. The team recently merged with the Bethesda Renegades to become even stronger, winning the "Super Girls" bracket in the 2009 Williamsburg Labor Day Cup and also winning the MSSL Showcase in Fort Dix, NJ., Nov. 22, 2009. Along with this merger, the team now has a second highly qualified coach in Jorge Hunt, a former D1 player at Catawba College, Super Y coach, and long time experienced travel coach.
