The GU17 Heat (WAGS Div 2) beat three tough competitors, including the #3 teams from Delaware and Rhode Island, to win the Turquoise bracket of the competivie MSSL Winter College Showcase in Ft. Dix, N.J., November 22. The tournament draws over 200 coaches, many from NCAA Division III programs, to scout talent and generated recruitment offers for DC Stoddert Soccer players in the past. The Heat scored 6 goals for and zero against, making MSSL the second tourney in a row where the team has not dropped any points or been scored on. "We had a great weekend," said coach Andre Russo. The Heat has been one of Stoddert Soccer’s strongest travel teams, making WAGS Division 2 several seasons ago under then-coach Kate Samsot, DC Stoddert’s travel director and Olympic Development Program coach.
