Spring Travel Team Tryouts for Fall 2009

GIRLS Rising U13 Metros Tryouts May 19 & May 21, and June 2 (Location:  Ft. Stevens)  
The GU13 Metros (Blue, Red, and Fusion teams) are forming teams for the fall.  The Blue Team currently competes in WAGS Division 1 and the Red Team in WAGS Division 5. The Fusion Team competes in MSI.  The GU13 Blue and Red Teams will be coached by Kate Samsot, USSF “A” license, Virginia ODP, and former UNC varsity player, and Kevin McShane, USSF “A” license, and former varsity coach at St  Alban’s School.  Tryouts are from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on May 19 and 21 and on June 2 at the Ft. Stevens Rec Center field (1327 Van Buren St., NW Washington, DC 20011).  Please contact Age Group Manager, Ellen Jakovic, if you are planning to participate in tryouts or have any questions related to tryouts.
 
 
GIRLS Rising U14 Blue & Red Mischief   Tryouts May 19 & 21(Location:  Ft. Stevens)
The GU14 Blue and Red Mischief teams (competing in WAGS) are holding tryouts at Ft. Stevens field from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on May 19 and 21.  Please contact age group manager, Raina Fishbaine if you plan to try out.  
 
 
GIRLS Rising U15 Edge  Tryouts May 28, June 2, and June 4(Location:  Ft. Stevens)
The GU15 DC Stoddert Edge (WAGS Div. 2) and Extreme (WAGS Div. 5) seek skilled field players and goal keepers for fall 2009. Edge is coached by Andre Russo (former George Washington University varsity standout) and Dan Driscoll (former goalkeeper for Pomona).  Both coaches are nationally licensed (USSF C) and have successful track records with high school-aged teams.  Tryouts are at Fort Stevens June 2nd and June 4th, 4:30-6pm. Ft. Stevens Rec Center Directions: 
From Maryland: 495/Beltway to the Georgia Ave South (exit 31). Go south approximately 5 blocks on Georgia Avenue,turn right onto 16th St. Continue into the District and proceed approximately 2.5 miles. Once you pass the Walter Reed Medical Center go four more blocks and turn left on Van Buren Street. Field is one block ahead on the left.
From DC: Military Road east from Connecticut Avenue, exit going north 16th Street , turn left at the end of the ramp on 16th Street, go two blocks and bear right on Luzon,  and then right on Van Buren at the Rec Center in another 4 blocks. 
 
 
GIRLS Rising U16 Force Tryouts June 13 (St. Albans) and June 16 & 18 (Fessenden Field)  
The DC Stoddert Force -- a rising GU16 team for fall 2009--will be holding tryouts: Sat. June 13 from  9 am - 10:30 am at St. Albans HS in Washington, and Tues. June 16 and Thurs. June 18, 6 pm to 7.30 pm at Fessenden Field (Fessenden St. NW one block west of Reno Rd. behind Alice Deal Middle School). GIRLS Rising U17 Heat Tryouts June 7, 8, 13 & 14 (Different D.C. locations) 
The GU16 Heat (currently first place, WAGS div. 3) is holding open tryouts for their their Fall ’09 GU17 WAGS squad. READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY since tryouts are at several different venues. Tryouts are Sunday, June 7, Monday, June 8, Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14. Tryouts Sunday, June 7 & Sunday, June 14 are from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Riggs LaSalle (Riggs LaSalle: 501 Riggs Rd, NE; Washington DC); Monday June 8 is from 5:30 - 7:00 at Maret School turf field (3000 Cathedral Ave NW). Saturday, June 13 is at Georgetown Day School middle school, from 3:00-5:00. (GDS Middle School: 4530 MacArthur Boulevard NW). The Heat is coached by USSF-licensed coach Andre Russo, a standout former varsity player at George Washington University & currently a coach with the Maryland Super Y program. GIRLS Rising U-17 Storm   Tryouts June 4 (Carter Barron) and  Sat. June 6 (Georgetown Day School – Middle School Field))
The rising GU-17 Storm (WAGS U16 Div. 5) is holding tryouts for its 2009--2010 WAGS team.  Tryouts will be on Thursday, June 4 at Carter Barron from 5:45 – 7:15 pm, and on Saturday, June 6 from 3:30 – 5 pm at Georgetown Day School, Middle School Field, 4530 MacArthur Boulevard, NW, Washington, DC.  The Storm is coached by Wilson High School Varsity Coach Hannah Wenzel, who also holds a professional coaching license.  Other tryout dates TBA.  Please call or email Coach Wenzel if you are interested; (703) 201-9016.

The DC Stoddert U12 Blue United and U12 Red Storm are looking for committed and talented players to join their teams. The United and the Storm will be playing U13 in the Fall 2009. These teams will be holding tryouts on Monday, June 1 and Monday, June 8 from 4:45 to 6:15 pm at Palisades turf field (5200 Sherier Place NW, Washington DC). BOYS Rising U14 Titans & Red Devils Tryouts June 1 & June 8 (Location:  Palisades)
The DC Stoddert U13 Blue Titans (NCSL Div 2) and U13 Red Devils (NCSL Div 6) are looking for committed and talented players to join their squads.  The Titans and the Devils will be playing U14 in Fall 2009. These teams will be holding tryouts on Monday, June 1 and Monday, June 8 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at Palisades (5200 Sherier place NW Washington DC). BOYS Rising U15 Dragons  Tryouts June 1 & June 8 (Location:  Wilson High School turf field)
The rising U15 Dragons will be holding tryouts for Fall, 2009 on Monday June 1 and Monday June 8, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, on the field at Wilson High School in Washington, DC.  The Dragons, currently undefeated in D6 of the NCSL, are looking for a few committed and effective players to join the team.  The Dragons will be coached by USSF-licensed Aron Gyorgy, a former D1 college player and youth travel coach for Stoddert, originally from Hungary.  Interested players should contact manager Susan Hammond  to be put on the E-mail list.
 
 
BOYS Rising U16 Blue Lightning Tryouts Wednesdays & Fridays, starting May 20th
Rising U16 DC Stoddert Blue Lightning (NCSL Div. 2)  is looking for a goalkeeper and talented and dedicated impact field players.  Tryouts will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays during regular team practices beginning May 20th.  The team is professionally coached by Evans Malyi, who played at the University of Maryland before playing professionally.  Coach Evans has been coaching youth soccer for 13 years, the past nine focusing on player development.  He holds a USSF "A" License and USSF National Youth License and is the Head Coach for the Boys 1993 MD ODP team.  Please E-mail team manager Kelly O’Dell, for more information.
 
BOYS Rising U16 Rockets  Contact managers to arrange tryouts
The rising U16 Rockets will play in NCSL Division 2 in the fall and will be coached by USSF A licensed coach and former national team player Len
Oliver . We are looking to add players to the squad that has risen previously from ODSL to NCSL Division 6 and in successive seasons to tie for Division 3 champion in Spring 2009 and win promotion to Division 2. Please contact team managers Michele Sturm and David Sarley  to confirm a tryout time.
 
 
BOYS Rising U19 Metros     Tryouts June 6  (Jelleff Boys & Girls Club, Georgetown)
The U19 Metros, NCSL D3, is holding tryouts Saturday, June 6, from 4 - 5:30 pm, at the Jelleff Field, just off Wisconsin Avenu on S Street NW in upper Georgetown. (Behind the Safeway.)  The Metros are professionally coached by Len Oliver,  DC Stoddert Soccer’s Director of Coaching and National Soccer Hall of Fame member. Please contact Len for details.
