OPEN COACHES GO INDOOR AT WILSON H.S.
Every Sunday morning at 9 am, rain, snow, or cold notwithstanding, some 18 coaches show up at the Wilson High School Gym, just off Chesapeake Street, NW, to join Len Oliver and other instructors in weekly skills training. After taking the coaches through a theme-based regime, e.g., “Games That Teach Soccer,” the coaches play real games, up and down the large Gym floor to experience “length and penetration” and then across the Gym to encourage “wide play.”
The coaches come from all levels of DC Stoddert Soccer, from the U6 through the U15s, and value the Sunday morning workouts to stay in shape, learn some new exercises, and play the game.
Coaches’ skill levels vary from the newcomers to the sport to those who have played at good levels in collegiate and professional ranks. Len and the coaches welcome all coaches, whatever their skill level, to a fun, fast-paced hour of soccer learning and playing.
