CANCELLATION POLICIES
In the event of inclement weather, Stoddert will post cancellations at the top of the its home page no later than 7:00 a.m. Cancellation information will also be available on the Fields Hotline. (Dial 202-338-1910. Press ’5’ when the greeting starts. Press ’1’ at the next voice prompt.)
In accordance with the policy of DC Parks and Recreation, fields must be deemed unplayable for at least 12 hours after a significant rain. If, for instance, a significant rainfall ends at 9:00 p.m. on a Friday, then the 8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. games must be canceled. Fields will then be inspected in the morning and, if deemed playable, will be reopened for the later games. Please note that some fields tolerate rain better than others and will be opened while others may remain closed.
Stoddert’s goals are to play as many games as possible without damaging the fields and to provide timely notification of cancellations. Often these goals are in conflict, and we must do our best to strike a proper balance.
