marta Want your child to play soccer with passion, creativity and joy? Turn off the stopwatch on your kid’s playing time. Quit keeping score. Count, instead, how many passes the team strings together before getting stripped of the ball, or whether the player with the ball has at least two options for a pass, forming the infamous soccer “triangle.”  These are among the lessons League Administrator Tom Gross, Girls’ Technical Director Karen Kelser and I learned at the third annual Elite Club Development Conference in Raleigh, N.C., this month.

Len Oliver and Kate Samsot just completed their most recent USSF ’E’ Coaching Course over the blustery and cold weekend of November 30-December 2.  The 35 coaches in the 18-hour course came from 16 different countries.

Record Turnout for Sept. "F" Module
A record 41 coaches attended DC Stoddert Coaching Director Len Oliver’s USSF U6-U8 and U8-U10 coaching modules on Friday, Sept 7 and Saturday, Sept. 8, to earn their ’F’ License basic coaching certification.  “The word is getting out," Oliver noted,  “that we are serious about licensing coaches.”
