Stoddert Soccer players and coaches battled for the citywide championship on MicKinley Tech’s artificial turf Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009--against each other. The annual DC Interscolastic Athletic Association high school finals saw Wilson’s girls’ varsity edge out School Without Walls 3-2 in a late PK, while Bell’s boys blanked Wilson 1-0, also on a PK.

DC Stoddert Soccer was well represented, with players on all four teams, including U16 teammates on both sides of the Bell-Wilson game. The same holds true for coaching prowess. Hannah Wenzel Krieger, Coach of the Wilson Girls’ Varsity squad, is a DC Stoddert Travel Coach. She holds the USSF D License from the club and represented DC Stoddert on the coaches’ trip to Ethiopia two years ago. School Without Walls’ Varsity Coach Bob O’Sullivan is a former DC Stoddert Board member whose two daughters played for the club and still monitors the annual Open Goalie Clinics. He earned his USSF D Coaching License at the club and remains a strong supporter. Kenny Owens, Wilson Boys’ Head Coach, is Athletic  Director for DC Scores, a club affiliate; he holds the USSF D License from us.
